I've noticed that tubulars repaired by Tire Alert tend to fit much more loosely after then base tape has been replaced. Has anyone else noticed this? If the tire is glued well, is there any risk? Too Tall - any thoughts?

By the way, normally tires I have repaired are used as spares. But, recently I punctured a brand-spanking-new Veloflex Carbon and I want to use it again as a daily driver.

The cotton tape they use seems unsized....it's a sponge! Recommend you use an old toothbrush or flux brush to scrub in a few very stingy initial coats of base tape glue...seems to do the trick. As for "tight"...dunno boss you got me. Seems about the same. A quick stretch just before install on your rim is the best best...bare feet and dry glue right?

No problems with the 6 or so I have had repaired. The new base tape is definately thinner and more narrow, leading to the looser fit. It is just cloth with no latex so the glue gets absorbed readily. Get at least 2 coats of glue on that base tape.
