hi. i have posted the same question on the classic & vintage forum of bikeforums but no love for me so far... and i know there are a lot of tommasini fans here.

i have purchased a tommasini frame and i don't know what it is. reasons to think the frame was repainted and the decals (saying 'super prestige') are not original. but i have only seen a few photos of super prestige framesets, and more recent framesets.

the frame is in excellent condition with no trace of rust inside the tubes, perfectly my size (54cm-54cm) and came with a couple extras. it does have the "t" cutouts in the lugs, bottom bracket, etc. i also purchased the frame because i knew where to find a tommasini chrome fork.

there is a "11" (without the quotes) stamped on the bb shell. rear spacing is 126mm.

any info would be most welcome!

right now i am trying to decide what components to put on it (i want to go modern, though) and want to ride it for now and perhaps in a year restore the frame with a proper paint job and the right decals. but for that i'd really like to know more about the frame.

thank you!

I don't have the info you're looking for, but it is likely a super prestige made of slx. it has lots of chrome beneath the paint and was at one time a fabulous frame.

sometimes painters paint over the chrome if it's in bad shape. this frame is pretty old, at least a couple of decades, judging from cable routing.

these are very lovely. this might or might not be lovely under the repaint, but you won't know till you try.

YO!!!

Double water bottles, under bb cable routing, suggest mid '80s.

A Columbus Air fork would be a nice addition to the package.

You can not go wrong with Campagnolo Super Record for
the vintage gear.
