Several weeks ago i posted a problem about a creak that sure seemed like it was coming from the bottom bracket on my Legend Ti. It creaked only under high torque situations. A number of readers responded suggesting i also look at the front d-r, seat rails, crank arms, pedals, etc. I could not figure it out. Some wanted to know what i turned out to be. I took it to a well-seasoned mechanic, a different one than the first unsuccessful attempt at a fix. He pushed on the cranks from the side causing the frame to flex in ways i never imagined. No creaking. He then locked the brakes and pushed down on a pedal. That maneuver caused a creak. Not having the time to chase the creak down right then, i left the bike. Today, about two weeks later, he calls to tell me the noise was a loose cassette lockring. Our bodies can have referred pain. Our bikes can have referred creaks and squeaks.
