View Full Version : carbon post in old style seat tube without collar?

Just wondering if this is a no-no: using a carbon seatpost in a frame that does not have a seatpost collar, just a clamp bolt squeezing the seat tube tighter?

FSA quit making their aluminum sl-220 setback seatpost, so I'm stuck using their k-force light carbon post if I want that much setback. (have been looking at a steel frame with that type of seat tube clamp...)

Thanks,

Thom

I have an FSA carbon seatpost (like the Sl-220, but carbon) in my Kirk with well over a 1,000 miles with no issues.

Shouldnt be a problem.

By the way, I loved that seat post (the SL-220) seems to be the best for Brooks saddles. Lots of setback and infinite adjustments.

Good luck,

Steve

Steve,

I think I noticed you were using the sl220 in one of your bike pics. Do you know of any vendors who have any still? I wouldn't mind picking up one if they were still around.

Thanks,

Thom

No, they are no longer available in a 27.2 format...Occasionaly on ebay they come up on other diameters, just not 27.2

I spoke to FSA and they said that they were all gone.

Wish I could be more helpful,

Steve
