Oh my, how do you all wait for your new custom bike? Mine has been in the birth canal for nearly a week now and then she (one of my clients named her LOLA because she's sexy) needs to visit my LBS for alll the components.

Phew. The wait is killing me and I am sure the LBS wants to for all the times I've bugged them keeping on top of the parts. (good thing...the seatpost fell through the cracks and needs to be re-ordered!).

I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning...for the past several weeks!!

Hope Lola turns out well!!

I met her in a club down in old Soho where they
drink champagne and it tastes just like cherry
cola C-O-L-A cola
she walked up to me and she asked me to dance
I asked her her name and in a dark brown voice she said
Lola L-O-L-A Lola Lo lo lo lo Lo - la

Well I'm not the world's most physical guy
But when she sqeezed me tight she nearly broke my spine
Oh my Lola la-la-la-la Lola
Well I'm not dumb but I can't understand
Why she walked like a woman but talked like a man
Oh my Lola la-la-la-la Lola la-la-la-la Lola

Well, we drank champagne and danced all night
Under electric candle light
She picked me up and sat me on her knee
and said "dear boy won't you come home with me?"
Well, I'm not the world's most passionate guy,
but when I looked in her eyes, well I almost fell for my
Lola Lo lo lo lo Lo - la Lo lo lo lo Lo - la
Lola Lo lo lo lo Lo - la Lo lo lo lo Lo - la

I pushed her away
I walked to the door
I fell to the floor
I got down on my knees
Then I looked at her and she at me

Well that's the way that I want it to stay
And I always want it to be that way for my Lola
La-la-la-la Lola
Girl will be boys and boys will be girls
It's a mixed up muddled up shook up world except for Lola
La-la-la-la Lola

Well I left home just a week before
And I'd never ever kissed a woman before
But Lola smiled and took me by the hand
And said "Dear boy, I'm gonna make you a man"

Well I'm not the world's most masculine man
But I know what I am and I'm glad that I'm a man
And so is Lola
La-la-la-la Lola la-la-la-la Lola
Lola la-la-la-la Lola la-la-la-la Lola

(somebody had to do it....enjoy your sexy bike! )

i know the feeling very well. i have 2 that i'm getting ready to build up. my custom Kirk arrived yesterday and i've been sitting on a custom Lynskey (replacement for my Legend Ti that FedEx lost last summer) for a few weeks trying to decide what parts i want to use. i finally made the parts selection today so the Lynskey will be first on the rack. i should have the small bits for the Kirk by tuesday of next week so it looks like the Kirk could be built by next weekend.

Spoke: If yours is built by next weekend, you'll be happily riding before mine is complete I think. How exciting for you!!

How does that work if Fed Ex loses your bike? Yikes. A custom and they lost it? Hmmmm I'd watch what the postman rides up on to deliver your mail!! Do they have to pay the retail value, the wholesale, the replacement or what?

Now you guys have me singing "LO OH OH OH LO LA".......

I have been patiently waiting the days out until about 2 weeks ago and then I started to get antsy.

If my Meivici ships Tuesday, the dealer is promising delivery for Saturday.

I guess that means the maiden voyage will be Sunday.

I need to get a few hundred miles on it to loosen up the seals on the FSA ceramic bottom bracket before the Pan-Mass Challenge.

FedEx will pay up to the declared value, although if the declared value is more than what it is actually worth, they might seek to avoid paying for that reason. Basically, you pay extra based on the declared value (as it's not really insurance). I think it's probably easier to deal with them losing something outright instead of damaging it, since you don't have questions of whether it can be repaired, etc. Even with insurance or the like, losing a bike is still painful.
