View Full Version : Rear Wheel Give/Play/Slack Question
My rear wheel is moving side to side maybe a half an inch when I check play by holding the wheel and gently trying to push it side to side.
I noticed this doing a check after my ride last night.
Any advice/ guess as to what is going on?
It spins true to my eye. No rubbing etc. No loose spokes etc.
I am taking it to my LBS today.
Topolino, I think the model is C19, purchased in September 2006.

If you've carbon stays, check the bolts that hold the stays to the dropouts. Came loose on me, once.

out of the frame and grasp the axle. Do you feel play in it? IF so, it could simply requrie an adjustment on the cones or lock nuts. Either way your LBS should be able to diagnose. Hopefully, its not a broken axle or shot bearings.

Hi,
Don't know the design of those hubs but if the wheel is rotating smoothly it is more likely a broken axle.

I'll bet your axle and bearings are fine. That wheel is known to be a little flexy. My friends C19 rear wheel does the same thing.
If it is not hitting the brake pads while riding, you should be OK.
Not sure what it was. I just know they sent it back to the factory and I am riding a loaner rear.
Will be my first time on sew ups tomorrow. Hope I don't get a flat.
Awesome customer service on the loaner rear wheel. I really appreciate what the shop is doing.

My front C19 does that.
The play was too much for me to feel secure riding the bike.
