FACT OF THE DAY...

Although the best of friends these days, relations between the USA and
Britain have not always been so cordial. On this day in 1812, for
instance, the United States declares war on Britain. Among the salient
events of this conflict are the burning of the White House by British troops
(painted white after the event to cover the smoke damage) and the siege
of Fort McHenry - the inspiration for the American national anthem 'The
Star-Spangled Banner'.

Looks like relations can get better....but it takes quite a few years! ;)

Well then, they are still pretty hot about the war of northern aggression down here. Around here the locals think anyone north of Huntsville is a yankee.

When we first moved down here a buddy and I were shooting 9mm's down at a local creek and these 2 guys come right up to us in a rickety old boat. As soon as the shooting tapered off one of the guys walks up while drinking some racing beer, that's busch beer by the way, and says the classic, "You boys 'aint from round chere are ya?" Needless to say I started to hear dueling banjos in my head and kept 2 in the clip. True story.
