View Full Version : Michelin tire pressure guidelines...
Does anyone remember what the tire pressures are Michelin recommends for 700x23 in the Pro Race, Pro2 Race, etc.. ?
I know they topped out at 116psi and you were supposed to use 116psi if you were 180lbs or more.
I'm around 175lbs right now. Wondering if I can drop them to 112psi or so but I've lost the little guide that came with the tires and I don't see the info on their website.

On the sidewall of my 700x23 Michelin Pro Race it says 87-116psi. I rode my PR2's as low as 75psi. I weigh ~155.

i use 100 in back and 95 up front (weight between 145-153).
Thanks.. sounds like I need to keep them pretty close to 116psi still, at least till I lose another 5lbs or so.

I doubt that there are many gauges on bike pumps that are more accurate than +/- 5psi so I get "in the ballpark" with them and then ride the bike and see how it feels and looks. If I can't see any sidewall deflection when I put my full weight on the bike I know the tires are too hard regardless of what the gauge and recommendation may say.
You're right pump gauges suck. I don't think any of mine are even within +/- 5psi in the range of 100-130psi.
So I use a separate gauge. I have a lot of gauges from motorcycling.. where 1-2psi is noticeable on the track.
I'm also kind of fanatical about it on the bicycle as I've had some uncomfortable bikes.
I find most tires are pretty harsh at their upper pressure limits.
