View Full Version : Cannot find a Serotta....nationwide

I have called nearly 20 shops in the NE to west coast trying to find a Concours level or higher Serotta with a 57.5-59 TT and guess what...No one has one. I guess that is good for Serotta and the dealers but bad for me trying to replace a frame immediately instead of waiting.

Hey, if anyone has a lead on one let me know...please...

Aren't those all custom bikes?

Why would anyone have any?

Which begs the question.. what is the deal with these bikes? My shop has 3-4 Fierte's and an HSG IIRC.

But they also had an Ottrot and maybe a CDA? Are there a few of the "custom" models that go out in stock sizes or are those leftovers or custom "misfits" or something?

There was a period that "Stock" higher-end bikes were made...and some locations have bikes built for Demo that they then sell them at the end of thier use. I am not looking for new per say...anything that they have. Also, and yes sometimes bad orders or lack of customer involvement once the order is complete.

Try calling River City Bicycles in Portland Oregon They had a beautiful Red Legend Ti in there the other day - a 57 or 58 I think. Great Bike shop

http://www.rivercitybicycles.com/

Bike Gallery also in Portland.. http://www.bikegallery.com/content/Bike_Gallery/BG-locations.html

They had a lot of high end Serottas the last time I was there..

I called rivercity so far...appreciate the lead...one Legend not quite right and one Meivici that may work but getting on the high end of pricing.

Thanks Mark

Bicycle Ranch (http://www.bicycleranch.com) in Scottsdale, AZ has some stock Serottas that they're trying to unload at about 25% off. I just saw an email from them today. I don't recall exactly what models they had in what sizes, but I do seem to recall that they had some larger sizes listed. Give them a call.

Called, they actually have HSG Carbon but seems they will only sell as a complete bike, and an Attack that is 56 measured TT but they don't know the effective TT length.

Thanks

The last time I was in Wheatridge Cyclery (CO) www.ridewrc.com they had several high-end Serottas in stock. In know of two that were 58s. They have a close relationship with Ben so they always seem to have Serottas on hand. Good luck.

Here's a great untapped market-if all shops that carried Serotta's kept a list of in-stock frames/bikes that was available to the public on say, the Serotta web site, I'd bet these shops would be able to turn over their stock more often, freeing up cash, there'd be more happy Serotta owners around, and it would be a great advertising tool.

What's Serotta waiting for? Heck; I'll bet somewhere out there is a stock Serotta frame that's just what I'm looking for without the wait.

Last time I was in City Cycle, San Francisco in February they had a bunch of Serotta on the floor.

99% sure it's still there.

I'll check next time I go to the shop and see what size it is. I want to say there are actually 4 Serottas there besides the Fiertes and HSG.

Don't know if your interested in used.....but I am gertting ready to sell my _stock_ 58cm Concours CS. Onyx with Competion Red lettering.

Let me know if your interested. CK hs, Bontrager CF XO crank. I have the hardest time putting this bike up for sale. Not because I believe I will ever ride it again (TT too long for me) but because it is so damn sharp looking.

Have you tried calling Serotta directly? I gather that there's nothing left on the demos and prototypes page that quite fits your bill, but it may be that they have something anyway--deals fall through, specs get changed, I'm not saying it's likely to work, but surely it's worth a call (which would also nail down the question how long you'd really have to wait to have built exactly what you do want).

Yeah it has been there for a few year5s. I saw her yesterday. Still very nice. If you want a deal on it call and ask for Tony. He is their purchasing manager and a great fella. It is their demo bike (not to shabby huh) and It is beautiful!

Have you tried Richardson Bike Mart down in Richardson, TX? Haven't been there in awhile, but they tend to have a nice selection of frames in stock.

Everyones been a great help. Seems there are bikes out there but I am on the upper spectrum of sizes on the 57.5 TT and add the slope for standover becomes narrows them down a bit. I was going to wait to order one this fall custom but need now dictates otherwise. Still planning a Kirk order this fall but need something now. CDA is ala stolen and the Hors out for a look now...no bike...ouch.

Actually while I was writing this may have my CDA found. We will see what the authorites came up with...still will keep looking for frameset though.

Now the update...

Thanks Serotta James and Get a Grip Cycles.

I have new one on the way!     (banana rating of 5) A very special one that I will leave unlabled until it arrives. I have the build draft and I see only one oddity on HT but I believe that it will work rather well since I am using spacers on my previous builds and I will not get any more limber just older.

If you expert fitters out there don't mind slide over to the fitting discussion and see what you think.

I really appreciated all the help and searching you did out there.

Again pics to come...about 11/2 to 2 weeks since I have some work to do in CA.

I just got a custom CDA with custom paint and from the day I signed the order and paid my $$ down until the day they opened the box was exactly 5 weeks. The arrival was one week earlier than Serotta had originally targeted as a ship date. Also the custom paint added an extra week - so a custom Concours might be done just as quickly, 4-5 weeks w/o custom paint. Not a bad turn around if you ask me and if you want a sweet ride like the Concours and are a tough fit, thats nothing compared to some builders out there.
