Hello.

I am outfitting my new custom bike that is carbon and titaniam with pink accents. I know you super racer dudes will probably not appreciate the color, but if you can get beyond it and help, I would be so grateful. I love pink. So, want to get a pink saddle, the bike manufacturer is having his signature on the bike in pink...is there a light headset that is pink? My pink is not the bright bubblegum color, but the older Serotta pink...Any suggestions? And, are the Stelvio Raceguard Tires any good? Won't use them if they aren't as good as Continentals. Want puncture proof but fast...

If there are no classy looking pink headsets, do you know of any good looking and light titanium colored ones that might match my frame?

Thanks for your help.

Chris King was recently offering it's headset in pink. They also offer headset top caps and stem spacers! Check it out here:

King has their pink headset, as well as pink spacers, and a polished ti headset.

the pink Stelvios are pretty bright, but after a few rides, that will change. no experience with them, though, other than mounting some.

Bontrager and Fizik both have pink bar tape.

i assume you've seen Team Estrogen's site?

I think that someone (Ergott?) had posted a bike with pink Phil Wood hubs. You might want to talk to Bill Bove as well.

OK, so is the pink in the Chris King headset really bright or calm like the older Serotta pink...does anyone know? I can't really tell via the internet...

Who is Bill Bovet and how does one contact him?

Ginger

Contacting Bill Bove:
Go to the navigation bar at the top of the page you are looking at right now.
See "Members List"
Click on that.
Select "B"
Scroll through to page oh...8 or 9 of the B's and click on "Bill Bove"
You can email or PM him from there
Or, you can go to your Private Messages and send a PM to:
Bill Bove

Bill is a great guy and purveyor of things PINK...

You may also want to consider having wheels built with the pink Cris King hubs that are out there...Pink isn't like gold (there is such a thing as too much gold) The hubs match nicely with the headset. I recently saw a black carbon bike with the headset, cap, and hubs. Very nice.

You'll also want to check out Terry bicycles
http://www.terrybicycles.com/
They have pink saddles.

Good luck with your color coordination!

This is how pink parts shake out. King headset, Fizik pink tape and Arione combo. No one has tried to beat me up yet.

King's pink ano is a little more subtle than the Stelvio's pink. Actually, a lot more subtle. the older pink King stuff is a little lighter than their newer offerings, from what i've seen in the shop.

Fizik also has a pink Arione.

Pink King hubs to match would be my call.

Maybe a pewter headset if you don't like the pink...

Hey, pink is IN. I recently saw pink Izod polos back on the market. Anybody have the '89 World Championships? Bugno has an all hot pink bike. I think the '80's are making a comeback.

Hubs: Call Phil Wood directly and ask about their custom colors -- you can get anything in a fine pink.

Headset: Already discussed.

Rims: Velocity Deep V in powdercoated pink.

Saddle: Arione and a couple of the women's saddles available in pink.

Cable housing: One of the Japanese brands is available in pink.

Handlebar tape: Fizik has a pink and there are a couple great pink fabric tapes available from Jitensha.

Tires: Conti 4000 in pink sidewalls as a limited edition T-mobile tire.

And you can get a powdercoating shop to powdercoat any other component you want in pink. Last, for a gorgeous pink anodizing, check with www.abelreels.com. They do the most incredible anodizing of all kinds on saltwater flyfishing reels -- you can have pink flames on the side of your seatpost if you want, or pink flamingos on your chainring above the mounting bolts.

Last, get some pink model paint and use it to highlight any recess, groove, etc. on your components (just like was done with milling and cutouts twenty years ago).

where are the matching Chris King pink hubs?

CK's hubs are ShimaNO only. one can use a shiftmate, or just use a Shimano cassette, but in some peoples' opinions that's not an optimal solution (although ergott, for eg, finds the Shimano cassette to work fine).

. . . Will Smith has just been inducted into the Men In Black and fitted with his black suit, thin tie, and sunglasses. He walks out of the fitting room and says to Tommy Lee Jones, "You know what the difference is between you and me?"

Then he points to his new suit and answers his own question, "I make this look GOOD."

Bill does that with pink!

Pink isn't like gold (there is such a thing as too much gold)OMG, I beg to differ. I love pink. I have a pink cross bike. I have pink Velocity rims on a mtn bike. I have rose pink Sidis. I'm the one who wears a pink hat flyfishing (though I refuse to have a matching Abel reel I do have pink rod and reel cases). BUT I saw a woman on a century recently with a pink Trek, with pink everything, saddle, saddle bag, components, hydration pack, everything. Oi, it made my eyes hurt. And, I wasn't the only one in pain. The beauty of any color gets lost when it simply becomes a challenge to make every single item that color.

Yabbut, some of us know about Bubba.... :D

Did the pink rider have brownies in her bags? She's a bit of a fixture around the bay area if it's who I'm thinking of.

And what's not to love about a guy who could carry off pink components and bar tape in the 80s? It was such a liberating time for men.

Don't know about the brownies, but I'm sure you can check again at the next club ride.

Well...

it was a Trek...of course it was painful.

Gotta remember that even though your pink is subtle, it probably rubs others the wrong way too.

On the bike, it seems to me that some do the coordinated look well, for others it's just matchy matchy.

The Trek did made it worse, but I swear the only things that weren't pink were the bolts. I guess we should be glad that all the pink stuff she was wearing provided a sort of camouflage for the bike.

When a small town (male) sheriff make a point of driving over to ask about your pink wheels and every guy on the trail admires them, you have to think you've done at least one thing right.

Pink rocks, but there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. A couple more things.

Jagwire makes pink housing. It's pretty decent stuff.
I've got a roll of Pink Cinelli Cork sitting here.
Terry does pink saddles, or that Arione is hawt...
I'm with 11.4 get the pink LE Conti's...
