Time for my first chain replacement I am looking for Durability rather than light wieght. Is 6.1mm better or worse than 5.9mm for a 2005 Chorus group?
(And no I haven't had the bike that long only about 7 months without much riding)

I'd go with the 5.9 mm chain, it seems quieter than the wider Campy chains. With regard to durability I would contend that they are as strong as any other chain and believe a clean drivetrain and good chainline are the keys.

On the Chorus - its a few grams heavier than Record and a good bit more affordable.

I have been using SRAM 1090R or 1090 chains on all of my Campagnolo drvietrains. The one on my road bike has about 1500 miles on it and it is just as quiet and smooth as on day one. They are less expensive than Campagnolo chains and I really like the powerlock.

I usually use Chorus, but the Record is on sale at Performance right now for $50.

Since my last change I ride a DA 10speed chain. I works pretty well so far and costs about half of the record chain.

cheers,

I use the KMC for Campy 10 and have liked it. Less expensive than some others. Easy to change with link.

My Campy 10 conclusion is that happiness = a new chain more often than you'd think.

+1 for the SRAM chain. The connecting link provided with their 10 speed chain is a lock, not designed to be removed. The Superlink IV (http://www.lickbike.com/productpage.aspx?PART_NUM_SUB='0337-59') works nicely.

I would suggest staying with the CAMPY chain. Except for some that might be a few dollars cheaper at a given time, that seems to be the only variable. Additionally when you take that $10 or so and spread over 2K plus miles, it is pennys and you have the chaing that was designed for your components.

The only time I have had less than grest performance from CAMPY is when I tried another cheaper chain. NOW I just go over to SPOKES, drink his sodas, and let him put another campy on. (and tell me how dirty my bike is)

Yes HE is correct as usual..... :D

The 2007 Campy Ultra Narrow 10sp chain is $44.88 regular price at Lickbike.com:

and shipping is cheaper:

Lickbike shipping -- $6.00
Performance shipping--$8.75

The Campy 10 speed chains I've used are nice, but I prefer the Wipperman chain. I don't know that the chain is any better, but quick connector is superior to anything I've used. Give a Wipperman a try, or at least a Campy chain with a Wipperman quick connect.
