way OT: any electricians in the house?

brain dead me plugged a US boom box 110 into a 240 volt plug in australia and isn't showing any signs of life.

forgive the stupid question but i am stupid - is there an internal fuse in electronic goods?

would it have fried some wires or more serious? could it be repaired? easily?

My boyfriend, who owns a small electronics repair shop, says if it will take batteries, try seeing if it will work that way. If it does, then you probably just burned out the power transformer, which can be repaired. Hope this helps.
