An addendum to my 650b/ 700c thread.

Would there be any advantages to having a 135mm rear axle?

Rivendell makes some of their bikes 132.5 so you can use either, with the blessing of the manufacturer.

Just a thought.

The advantage of 135mm would be a wheel with less dish.

The in-between spacing works well in practice. The missus has a 132.5 mm, and I have a 128 mm spaced bike. A little nudge or squeeze when removing or installing the wheel is all it takes.

Douglas would be the expert in this area. Another good person to ask would be ANDREW or SMILEY.

It is beyond my technical ability.

One of my 700C bikes has a 135mm rear end. It definitely makes for a more durable rear wheel, and this particular bike carries panniers very frequently.

The only drawback is the non-standard for 700C 135mm rear end makes swapping in a spare wheel, perhaps a borrowed one for example, somewhat of a problem. Sounds like that 132.5mm option mentioned might be a good way to cheat the system.
