OK, literally, a question about cranks. Please accept my apologies if this has been rehashed.

I've a new frame incoming, and am obsessing over the build. I have a nice set of Shimano DA 9 speed octalink cranks on hand, and a bottom bracket, too. Used, but loyal and fit well.

Am I going to notice an appreciable difference in a carbon or external bearing crank? If memory serves, the weight differential between the DA10 setup and DA9 (including BB) is less than 100 grams.

Many thanks in advance for your advice and experience.

at best maybe. the question is - is it worth the $ to go out and replace something you already have? I think not.

That's a rare combination: what I needed to know is what I wanted to hear. Many thanks.

You will notice a significant weight reduction in your wallet as well. ;)

It is not likely you will notice any discernible difference. I can't tell any difference, and have had several bikes that had both.
