I finally decided to try tubulars and I've been looking at tires. I noticed that Conti has the Competitions 25s and 23s (http://www.conti-online.com/generator/www/de/en/continental/bicycle/themes/tires/race/competition/competition_en.html) listed on their website as 27x1. But that can't be right, right? If they're going inches, shouldn't it be 28x1 or 28x7/8ths, respectively? And why are they listed as 27 and not 622 like they do their clinchers? More importantly, are these (http://cgi.ebay.com/2-Continental-Competition-25-bikeTubular-Tire-27x1-NIB_W0QQitemZ170102329164QQihZ007QQcategoryZ42334Q QcmdZViewItem) going to fit my 700c rims? Maybe I should just stick with Vittoria?

No problem getting the right size, but I posted a thread where people said they thought they were putting 650s on 700 rims. Sprinters are great, ride well and wear well but I could not deal with them. Vittoria CX Corsa much easier to get on. Honestly, just no strong enough. You do not want 27x1.

Relax, it is a little confusing but not a dealio. Forget about the Conti website. The tyres are sold as 700X 19/22/25 just fugget about the stuuupid conti. website k? Competition tyres are tough as nails and ride really nice. They distinguish themselves as being both quite tough and not exactly heavy :)

They are very well made and require good prep. / stretch on a rim AND (the secret to getting them on the rim without losing an eye) a quick hard stretch JUST before you put them onto your rim for good.

GREAT tyre...did I say that?

PS - Congrats on your most excellent choice :)

FRIENDS don't let friends RIDE clinchers.

I road raced on the Conti Comp GP 19's for many years. In fact, it's the only tubular tire I ever rode, except when having flatted. Even then I used the Conti LA. The LA was a little heavier but also a little wider and easier to get on the rim , out on the road. The Comps __ARE__ a little tough to install and pre-stretching on a clean rim is a MUST. +1 on previous testimonials. They are tough, light and sure-footed.
