Hi group...My name is Justin and I am addicted to Specialized.

(forum-"hi Justin")

I love my Tarmac's. I am on my second one, and it is the best riding carbon bike I have been on. I have raced on Trek, and Kestrel carbon. Litespeed Ti, and Cannondale Alum. I have never had an oppty to own a custom made bike...plan on it...just haven't done it yet. I was never a fan of the "S" for a loooong time. I thought they made very generic rode bikes and even more boring mtn bikes. This changed about 4 years ago...and I started doing my homework.

I guess I write all of this to say...it is what is. A mass produced frame and fork with pretty much stock components...and I love racing it. I get more comments on the looks of the bike over any other brand or model I have raced. I get more comments from other racers wishing their teams had a deal with Specialized rather than... "T" or "the Cannon".

So there...I took the first step to recovery. I admitted I had a problem.

Justin,

My sister works at a local "facility" They have a bed waiting for you.

Actually Justin...you do come off sounding like a Specialized damage control salesperson. You say you work in the bike industry, that's cool... If you're not a specialized sales guy, it's cool that you're happy with your bike. Everyone should be riding a bike that they're happy with. But what I want to know is are you just trolling on a slow day to get the Serotta devotee's dander up to make them look a bit defensive, or do you have a point other than you like your bike?

Just ask'n.

(You'll find plenty of people who are happy with their stock Serottas too.) :)

you gotta lose the s logo.
you should replace it with a pumpkin or a tuna fish sandwich or something.
looks too much like an ad.

start over with something like.
i hate specialized less than many of you guys do.

your credibility will improve.

I tried a Roubaix Pro several times.
Too many issues with fit. It did not work. I did a custom fit.
The Specialized look is generic. Those Zertz inserts are highly amusing.
They all look the same at the shop!!

Go Away, DUDE!

I would like to think that an "S" brand product manager attempting grass roots image rehab could be a little more skillful than this.

My mistake. I should not have singled out "S" brand, or any brand for that matter. I have no idea from whence the OP hails or why but I find it amusing that corporate grass roots marketing ("viral" anyone?) is generally so obvious and bad that it has created a market of cynics.

What I find interesting is the difference response to the two threads.
The first, this one on being a "specialized addict" which matches the in your face type brand hype and makes a statement that does not require an answer; and the other on "Ebisu Road" which asks a question and allows the forum participants to participate in the thread rather than throw tomatoes at it.

Two different approaches to brands other than the sponsor of the forum that elicit two very different responses from other users because of how they involve the members of the forum.

If you're down and confused
And you don't remember who you're talkin' to
Concentration slip away
Cause your baby is so far away.
Well, there's a rose in a fisted glove
And the eagle flies with the dove
And if you can't be with the one you love
Love the one you're with
Love the one you're with
Don't be angry, don't be sad,
Don't sit cryin' over good things you've had,
There's a girl right next to you
And she's just waiting for something you do.
Well, there's a rose in a fisted glove
And the eagle flies with the dove
And if you can't be with the one you love
Love the one you're with
Love the one you're with
Turn your heartache right into joy
She's a girl, you're a boy,
Get it together make it nice
Ain't gonna need anymore advice.
Well, there's a rose in a fisted glove
And the eagle flies with the dove
And if you can't be with the one you love
Love the one you're with
