I just found out Delta is charging $90 each way on international flights for a bicycle. Has anybody dealt with this before? I was under the impression that a bicycle was one of your allowable bags on international flights, with no additional charges. Their magic number (L+W+H) is 62". I don't see how I can get under that.

Thanks,
Birddog

I can't talk about Delta, but if you tell the counter clerk that you are transporting your bike to a "Charity Ride" they usually do not charge you.....

Birddog;

I have always understood bikes to be excess/oversized baggage and subject to the fee (used to be $75.00).

If you are a USCF memebr and race license holder you can get vouchers for United Airlines to transport your bike.

I have had the same experience of flying the bikes for free with Delta on the way to and from the Ride for the Roses.
