Endurance trackies have had a good record of translating their talents to the road. Think of the many Australians that have gone on - pre-back injury McGee, O'Grady et al. Given how dominant he has been in recent years in the IP, would it it be uncharitable to suggest that Wiggins has been a disappointment on the road thus far?

i don't think he's a disappointment - i think he's a strong team rider, but not a superstar.

and he's a great track rider.

He is an incredible trackie, better than McGee ever was and he was excellent. But that is my point, with that much sustainable power over 4 K on the track why can't he do at least some of what McGee has done on the road (team leader at FdJ, prologue wins, has led all three Grand Tours, 8th in 04 Giro only 6:15 behind Cunego...)? Perhaps he hasn't committed to road like McGee and I am being a uncharitable with regards to what he has done on the road but the 5 sec margin in the IP final just made me think he should be more than a domestique. I like the guy and hope he proves me wrong in the London Tour proluge but he has targetted prologue wins before and not delivered.
