NFL fans indifferent to doping. Is cycling the royal whipping boy of drug in sport that adds self-flagellation just for kicks? Discuss

i'm indiffernt towards doping in pro cycling.
i know about it; i know that it goes back to
the origins of the sport, i know that 99.99%
of those caught copped to it, i know many,
many pros that copped to the fact that it is
an issue that is forever-present, and i know
that the sport is more difficult than those who
just watch can imagine. atmo it is an inhumane
sport based on the calendar and the severity of
many of the events. that all said, i like pro cycling
despite all of this. i never once believed these cats
did all this on food from the supermarket along with
good training and rest. it's my sport and it entertains
me to no end atmo.

The difference here is I think the divide between Olympic sports and non-Olympic sports. Olympic sports, including cycling, are required to adhere to the WADA anti-doping code. Non-Olympic sports do not have the same requirement. Therefore you do not have the same strict guidelines applying. Non-Olympic sports often tended to be money making ventures and the image of the game is protected in order to ensure corporate money continues to roll through the door. This sort of thing is happening in Australia where the AFL keeps a tight lid on drug usage as they do not want the image of the game tarnished by the general public being made aware, or at least aware of the extent, of recreational drug usage amongst the players.

Its probably not as simple as that, but that's my two cents worth.
