IT WAS 70 degrees and sunny today!

My buddy Dave and I went for a little ride. I just had a triple put on the Kirk for some longer miles this summer. I'm happy to be out! Winter fat and all *sigh* What do you do when you get a new drivetrain installed? Go play in the mud!

This is Dave. He posts here. His wife lets him play in the dirt. He hates it when I take his picture. You can see the roads we were riding were wet with snow melt. Dave determined that we were going to ride to a park, then ride a couple loops on the bike path there and ride home.
He looks harmless, doesn't he.

We made it to the park and started our loop only to find snow on the pavement! How dare it stay around! It's 70 degrees out!
BOOOOO

So we rode back to the sunshine and warmth

The roads are a bit soft and a bit rough

a bit rougher

What you can't see is that Dave is on the only solid trail down the road. ugh
http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p139/Gingerbike/March13_2007/IMG_0646.jpg

Dave's a mean mean man. He made me ride hills.
(not mountains of course...but if you look at that road, it goes up.
http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p139/Gingerbike/March13_2007/IMG_0654.jpg

There's ice on the lakes
http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p139/Gingerbike/March13_2007/IMG_0648.jpg

I'm probably the palest I've ever been...white girl got sunburned
http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p139/Gingerbike/March13_2007/IMG_0651.jpg

My bike got a little dirty...
http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p139/Gingerbike/March13_2007/IMG_0660.jpg

So...after a nice 2 hour after work ride it was time to go do homework.

Thanks Dave!

I got out too, yesterday. Bike was similarly trashed. My problem was I over dressed for the occasion. It was nice to get out and knock around the neighborhood yesterday even though it was for a short while.

This weekend coming...back into the 30's.

Looks like fun. With snow on the ground and warm temps it looks like Bozeman in June........no really.

Nice! I did a couple mtn bike rides in bend over the weekend. Sunday, it was 75F but the upper trails were still a little slushy with melting snow.

Looks like a blast! You've gotta come to Denver... there are so many awesome dirt roads to play on!

It was 82 degrees here yesterday -- my first ride this season w/no armwarmers, knickers, or long-fingered gloves -- whoo hoooo --bring on the Spring! And ya gotta love this Daylight Savings Time.

Amanda,
One day I'll get there!

Kevan,
Yeah...wool jersey and knickers and I was a touch warm. But that's ok, it cooled off fairly quickly as it does this time of year.

TT,
(shhhhhhhh)
:) It was officially "after work" by the time I collected the bike from the shop and made it over to Dave's.

Great photos and narration, Ginger. Thanks for sharing!

Is that the famous Gd'B jersey you are sporting there? It looks darling on you! Black is a good color for those muddy days too.

It's great to see you back out on your bike after your forced time off. Enjoy!

Nice! The roads look familiar. Does Dave have a pink and blue Legend? If so, I see him out my way all the time.

Nope Adam...that's not Dave's Legend...but I think I've ridden with it...(Isn't that funny?) I think it belongs to a Rhino who does some big miles...cross country type miles and his name is...um... Rich? Not positive. Jeff would know...

We left Dave's house in Lake Orion and did the west and part of the north side of the "four corner's" ride. So...North of Bald Mountain Recreation and Addison Oaks. About the only place you get decent consistant elevation change in Oakland County. There were 3' torrents running along some of the roads...thaw+frozen ground= a lot of water with nowhere to soak in.

Karin,
Thanks! It certainly IS the Bozeman jersey! Thanks! It was a perfect choice for the day...a little warm to start, but near the end of the ride it was perfect!

Dooh! I know him, I picked up Mark's Fierte CX at his house. The helmet confused me.

Yeah...it's a pretty insestuous group...I thought you MUST know him!

So...are you saving your pennies for Mark's Meivici? (Just a premonition...you know how he is with bikes. Who knows...he might love it...but he might have to ride it to find that out. :) )

He still hasn't ridden it?!?

We know he will sell it..it is just a question of when. I think the TT is 55cm, not his usual 53cm. If so, it won't fit me...

Last report I heard was just around the neighborhood...
We're plotting to get him out on a Mayville ride. I'm sure we have to wait for the salt to get off the road...maybe warm up a bit.

Stars align...

maybe a total eclipse...

Nice job on the pictures. Why don't you post the rest of them? Adam, you're thinking of Rick Butterfield. He's done the Ride across America on that Legend. I'll got a Red CDA and for everyones information, I've got dibs on the Meivici if he decides to sell it. My bike is still caked with mud. My excuse is the hose froze back up so I can't wash it.

Of *course* you do! We sort of have to get him out for some rides on the thing before he falls out of love with it though...plans?

Rich, Rick...I knew it started with an Ri...
