Rust on me ST bearings

Noticed today when giving my legend it's post ride clean that my non-drive side shock-absorption-bearing-thingamegig (that being it's actual technical name, don't you know) has a load of rust coming out of it. I've had the bike ~ 3 months, haven't done any particular wet rides (HK being rather pleasant this time of year :cool: ) & the other side is fine - so what's going on? Any maintenance tips are greatly appreciated, e.g. how best to get the rust off & then keep it off (i.e. smother in grease).

It is probably the washer in there. The bolt and 12pt nut are both stainless. There is a specific tool needed to take the ST assembly apart, which your dealer probably has. They can take it apart and put in a couple of new washers. It is not anything to worry about.

I wash mine regular and have never had a rust issue. Did you buy the bike new? If so then I would assume Serotta, being the great company they are, would warranty it for you.
