That looks really neat, but I can't think of a situation when I'm in the drops and need to use a bell. Usually if there are pedestrians or recreational cyclists around, I'm in the tops or hoods.

True! But I'm thinking I can put this on an aero handlebar that might not otherwise have enough space on the tops!

I fashioned a bar-end mount using my Spurbell and a barplug. It worked just fine and looked well integrated BUT as others have stated, its not very practical as accessibility to the bell in that location is less than ideal.

I have an ancient Italian bell (essentially a Saint Christopher medal in bell form with Latin) on my Schwinn three-speed. The lever is right next to my left thumb. It took me months (months, I say!) to get in the habit of using it when necessary. Even now I sometimes forget. Part of that is probably because I have several bikes and the Schwinn isn't in "regular rotation." It would be challenging to learn to use a bell which wasn't right next to one hand or another, and I'd probably need it on at least a couple of my most frequently called upon bikes to have a chance of realizing I had that warning device available.

I don't think I would consider that a dealbreaker. IME there's no such thing as "emergency deployment" of a bell; you either have plenty of notice that you're going to need to alert someone with your bell -- in which case moving your hand from hoods/tops to the bell's location is easily accomplished -- or it's the wrong tool for the job.

I really like this barend location, and it may be enough to finally convince me to add a bell to all of my bikes. I can't think of any other location where I would prefer a bell, because the area around the stem is already cluttered with cyclometers, lights, and CueClips, and anywhere near my hands would be more of a distraction than an asset.

Thanks for the other options. The canyon option seems cheaper and more practical (flicking a lever to sound the bell feels better than twisting).

Also, this photo seems to suggest that you can ring the bell with your little finger while you've your hands on the drops (might even be able to reach the brake lever too?!)

I got tricked into this too but I believe it's because the Canyon site is set to LB (Lebanon?) You have to get someone in Europe to order them and ship it for you.

Luckily, I have family living in Germany and so three bells are currently on their way here to the US. I'll post back with my opinion on them when they arrive!

I rode a charity ride with a guy who had a kid's bike horn attached to his fork so he could honk when in the drops. He also seemed to honk it when no one was around.....

Super strong rider, riding a POS bike with a rusty chain.....he was kind of a hoot! (pun intended).

I've tried one of these Mirrcycle Incredibell bar-end bells. I didn't like it very much. Placement is fine, and actual sound was good, but I found the twist motion to be just a bit too awkward for my taste. The Canyon model and Spurcycle mount seem much more intuitive (and better looking too).
