if you were forced to choose between backing the UCI or the ASO -- if that's not between a rock and a hard place -- what would you do? which option is better for your riders? your sponsor?

Depends who my sponsor is.

If it's a French company or one that does business in France, then I'd bet I'll be siding with the ASO and riding Paris-Nice. And ... if it meant not riding in the Tour, well, game over.

But you're right. This is such multiple :crap:

i would call my law team, see if there was a possiblility in suing both sides, ASO and UCI for putting me in a position of breach of contrct.

then i would ask my assistant to empty my diaper, which has now been full since last week....................

The system has permanantly shivered.

The Big Three duly realized the PROTOUR/UCI was wacking away at the ankles and feet of the old smaller established races, and decided to fight back by cutting off the head :D

why not do what they do in tennis and golf? both have pro tours AND events that are outside the pro tour. in tennis, wimbelton(sp?) is independent, and in golf, the masters is independent. those sports have figured out that there's enough money for everyone. why not let the UCI have its events. let the grand tours do their thing. and let each team go where it wants?

whenever the PGA tries to tell tiger what to do, he says, oh really?

If the UCI was really smart, they'd just ask the Teams what to do now.

It's crystal clear what the race organizers are up to, and it should be really
up to the teams to choose whether or not they want to have a ProTour, or
not. The race organizers clearly don't want a ProTour, but should they have
this choice? Does a sports arena get to choose who plays there?

I can't believe this is really happening. I guess the timing is now because the
ASO thinks the UCI and the teams are weak from the doping scandels, and
want to take this opportunity to pounce. If I was a race organizer, why
would I care who shows up? What difference should it make who rides?
There was finally a systematic and organized procedure in place to ensure the
professional structure of the top division teams, and now this happens.
