From r.b.t. (http://groups.google.com/group/rec.bicycles.tech/msg/b44c00a1f5de458f):

Reportedly, SunRace/Sturmey-Archer is considering doing a new production run of the ASC 3-speed fixed-gear hub, or an updated version of it. Given SunRace's track record with Sturmey-Archer, I would expect a new version to be more reliable than the original.

They're not certain about how much demand there might be for it though. If this is something that would be of possible interest to you, let them know by sending an email to:

First Peter Schickele reference I've seen in a while. Oh how I long for dead baby jokes...sigh.

Mah gawd that would work. Last yr. I was onto a very nice NOS hub with the right gear and everylittlethaing when I realized it was plain wrong to pay $400+ for a stuuupid hub.

This would be welcome.

What can you say about Sheldon’s Street Dog with left hand drive? I find that level of nonconformity refreshing.

Even the Dia-Compe front caliper brake is reverse-hand like one I was looking for recently. Interesting unique bike.

i've walked by the sturmey-archer booth at every trade show i've gone to and asked, begged and pleaded that they re-introduce a fixed gear internal....they never know what i am talking about but right something down in notebooks. i don't think its going to happen....

A new ASC would sell like hotcakes. I've been interested in it for a long time, mostly due to Sheldon's description. Like TT, I've been unwilling to shell out big-time eBay cheese for "the holy grail of fixed gear hubs"....but assuming the new ones are well-made, they will sell.

Dewd! Obstuse you've got interest in things I never dreamed...impressive :)
Shanty - "hotcakes" yeah...as if...but you know there would be a bunch of my Luddite pals building wheels in a fast hurry.
