I think that the 'bidders' are driving up the price to emphasize that the auction is a scam. Probably new IDs so they can bid 10 large on the bike and get away with it.

Ah, what it was to be young in the UK in the early 80s. Harrington jackets, 20 hole Doc Martens, hair shorter than the attention span of a US President and as much attitude as the disaffected youth of Thatcher's Britain could muster.
