Sorry if this has been covered before in another thread, but my search was fruitless. I have always had the impression that my legs are long for my height. So, for those who happen to be 5'10" (or anyone else for that matter), what is your height/PBH?

If you apply the basic formula of Daniel Rebour, it's PBH-25cm = frame size center to top of the top tube. This bears little on modern standards but if you look at a Singer, Herse, or Toei, the bikes are still fit this way and the bikes are designed for this kind of sizing. Modern bikes are fit far smaller and designed differently, plus many (most?) here will think it doesn't make sense to ride a frame this large. 'Makes perfect sense to me.

dbrk

p.s. It is very common to see a 60cm Singer with a 57cm top tube. Lower saddle/bar drop means the effective top tube is shorter.

Can I add a variable, because I find it interesting how low in the saddle many folks ride. Saddle height in relation to PBH is often -10cm but I tend to ride more like -9cm. So with my 85.3ishcm PBH I ride at 76.3cm, a number that moves about a bit because I ride five or six bikes with SPD-L and the rest in clipsn'straps. Some of this saddle height is pedaling style, mine decidedly toe down rather than really round and flat.

It's interesting to hear that formula re: about saddle height. My saddle height and PBH difference is about the same as yours.

Height 6'4", PBH ~91 cm. Using this formula, I'd ride a 66. I have a giant old "tres French" (Steve H's words) Fuji Royale fixed gear that is a 69!!! It is workable because I have the seat jacked down with no post showing....and a very long torso, which works w/ the 60cm top tube and a super short extension technomic. I think a 66cm Herse would be nice!!! Are they out there?! I expect I would achieve similar fit on such a big frame, but it would look considerably less goofy because it would allow for more than 1/2 cm seatpost and 7 cm stem, like I have on the old 6-niner!

How do you measure PBH, is there where you straddle a stick and pull it up into your throat?

Then multiply it by .883 or somethign to find your "optimal" saddle height?
