I've seen two mentions of a Kent Erikson and Kent Eriksen. I thought it was Erikson who started Moots, but then I saw a site for Kent Eriksen bikes that look like Moots. Any knowledge on this?

Same person. Correct spelling is Kent Eriksen. He left Moots last year and started his own framebuilding company, specializing in titanium bikes. Hope this answers your question. Cheers.

I believe he left Moots and started building ti bikes under his own name. He also makes the ti bikes for Cycles Tournesol.

(someone will correct me if I'm wrong...)

What ISPY and Flarider said. Kent Eriksen was the founder of Moots. Through a variety of circumstances he ended up selling Moots and stayed with them until the past year. When his contract expired, he left Moots and started up a new custom bike company, "Kent Eriksen Cycles." (http://www.kenteriksen.com/) He's still in Steamboat and he should be arriving at my doorstep any minute now!

A guy who works with my girlfriend has a mid-80s custom Glenn Erickson....it is a gorgeous bike. I know he has put a lot of emphasis on the bike tours in recent years....but does anyone know if he still builds frames? Tandems only? Regular road frames too?

The last I heard was that he was only building tandems, but I think he still builds singles for loyal touring clients. His work is first rate. I have several friends who ride his custom rigs.

Hey Big Shanty--I recently met a fellow Seattle commuter who rides a Glenn Erickson frame that was built in the last year. He's a tall guy, and it's a nice balanced looking frame that he really seems to enjoy riding. I also had the Erickson/Eriksen confusion when I first saw the frame but remembered the difference later on.

Erickson is listed (along with Hampsten, Rodriguez and Moots) as an exhibitor here:

San Jose and Seattle, here I come!

Cool...I went to that a few years ago, there were some good exhibitors ....and between Hampsten, Moots, Curtlo, Erickson this year...I'll definitely check it out (nevermind the free schwag angle). Last time I went Bob Roll was the "featured speaker". Maybe I can get paid to speak at bike fairs?? Turns out all you need to do is mug a lot and use "Lance" as every third word and you're set.
