So I went to the Hampsten's website (I think I like their Ti bikes...) and read this following:
"A properly fitted bicycle is centered around the stem, which we generally think of in terms of sizes; small (10cm, for frames in the 50-54cm range), medium (11cm, for 54.5-57cm range), and large (12cm, for 57.5cm and up range)..."
According to this, I have to use a 10cm stem, is that right?

but not the end all, someimes you also need to look at how much toe overlap using one of these stems will create and work to minimize toe overlap at the expense of TT length and handle bar reach. It makes no sense to build a 60 cm TT frame with a 9 stem, nor does it make sense to build a 55 cm TT length with a 13 cm stem but don't tell that to the Jerk. I use a 12 cm stem with a 58 cm TT but certainly would build my next bike with a 11 cm stem at 59 cm TT if need be.

I have the opposite problem - long legs and short torso. I have a 58cm bike with 56cm tt and still prefer a 9cm stem. To get a longer stem, I'd have to shorten the tt even more which result in even more toe overlap unless I went with a very shallow head tube angle.

Guys like you should ride 650c bikes.

...and guys like me should ride 950c bikes.

When you fight mother nature, something has to give.

Perhaps, but the 9cm stem seems to work ok and having the same size tires/tubes as everyone else is certainly an advantage on long rides.
