"Thank you very much for coming out on Thursday. For those of you who were unable to make it, we know you were there in spirit as the Governor
announced the formation of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Caucus, a bipartisan
group of legislators (both senators and representatives) who will champion
the cause of bicycle and pedestrian safety in the SC General Assembly.
Among the announcements was even the possibility of naming bicycling as the
state sport for South Carolina. While this topic was not on the agenda for
this year, it shows that those involved are committed to our cause.
Additionally, the governor declared May Bike Month in SC.
Again, thank you for coming out to demonstrate to the governor that we
really do care about our sport and that we will come when called to fight
for that in which we believe."
This was posted out to our bike clubs members just recently. Gov. Sanford just did a (aprox) 200+ mile ride over a few weekends from Spartanburg (I believe Hincapi lives around here) to Mt. Pleasent (near Charleston) to promote cycling and fitness. He rode a Trek :( , but he rode. Hundreds of riders went along. His wife rode a beach cruiser the last couple of days. State sport :banana:
