As I am having difficulty finding a silver 300mm+ seatpost for my MTB, I have started exploring alternatives.
My first choice was a straight silver Thomson post (330mm) ..... (OK, my REAL FIRST CHOICE is a Moots ti post!, but..... ) but I have missed a couple of good opportunities on the forum to grab the former.
Does anyone know whether a Nitto Frog post would be able to handle off road riding? No freeriding, but I weigh just about 200lbs, so I am not a lightweight. I love the old Ritchey/Nitto posts, but teh clamp mechanism was never strong enough to withstand a sharp hit on the nose of the saddle, so I have retired mine to a cruiser bike.
As I understand it, the new Nitto posts have two bolts side by side - correct? So, are these posts as strong as a Thomson? If I have to pay full retail for a post (god forbid) does anyone have any other silver recommendations? I want to pay no more than the cost of a Thomson, as they tend to be a benchmark for quality for me.
If a used Moots comes up, I will pay for it what I would pay for a new thomson - get it?
Replies appreciated.
