Found this in the attic at the LBS. I'm hoping you folks will help me
evaluate the thing and it's potential value. I know the photos are
atrocious, but I'd say it's about an 8.5 out of 10 aesthetically. Many
tricks, including internal cable routing, chromed (stainless?) lugs, fork,
seat, and chain stays, fast back stays etc. I'm not so sure the components
are period correct. Any insight you have to offer would be greatly
appreciated.

Cheers,

Jesse

yeah, the c-record groupo alone is worth a bundle.

Rickerts are (were) German made by a sole-proprietor (Hugo Rickert) and never made it into the road scene big-time, but showed up under occasional top German riders back in the '60s and '70s. They were mostly known for the track, where they had a solid presence in the six-days during the same period. He was a bit of a specialist in stayer frames. Not the best detail and finish work, but good solid bikes (bear in mind that you could say that about a classic Pogliaghi as well).

Rickert kept building frames until around 2000 or 2001. This bike is newer than the classic Rickerts and in a different design and build. Lugs are chrome-plated, by the way. The components are probably not that far off from being period. Solid bike, but not particularly bling.

That being said, I'm always into smaller frames. What size is it?

Actually, since this is presumably used, a C-record gruppo isn't necessarily worth a fortune. It looks like it comes with cobalto brakes, which is nice, but this wasn't exactly Campy's finest hour and there's lots of C-record stuff out there. NOS is something different, but this isn't. I'd figure the whole bike plus components should go for under a grand, perhaps $750. That's where a comparable Rossin or something like that would sell these days, and this bike is in that category.

edit: Btw, 11.4, it's about a 51.
