Is it sacreligious or otherwise against the rules of the Forum to mount a Brooks on a carbon seatpost?

I have an Easton EC-70 seatpost (on my hors categorie) which has performed admirably and which I see no current reason to replace. It has an old Selle San Marco Squdra HDP atop it at the moment. The Squadra has seen better days and I am keen to try a Brooks.

I have an Aliante on my other bike which I think I like even more than the Squadra. Had an Arione for a short time but did'nt like it at all.

Obviously a Brooks would go better with a nice silver Nitto but I do really like the EC-70. Or should I just get another Aliante since I know it works....?

Anybody owning up to having a Brooks on a carbon seatpost? Pics?

I hereby grant you dispensation to mix real leather with carbon fiber. Go and sin no more.

The length of the Brooks saddle itself as well as the length of the saddle's rails will determine if you can use the same seatpost to achieve your preferred knee/pedal spindle position and reach to the bars. The Brooks will not likely match your Squadra in either respect, so you'll need some adjustment. Brooks saddles have relatively short rails (and tend to run longer in length, depending on the model) but the fit is quite different too. I've used many a Squadra (a great saddle) and it's not quite like a Brooks: a Brooks is designed to put your sit bones further back than the Squadra and your perineum on its hammock. In sum, it's hard to compare and you may need a post with more (or sufficient) set back (and I don't know about the Easton).

I hope this helped some.

Done it and lived to tell about it.

You can do it, looks fine IMO but personally I would go with the Aliante...

I use a Brooks Swallow on a Campagnolo seatpost as well as a EC90 zero offset. Works and looks fine.

Swallow?

...

make sure it's a long or big frame. that's a long saddle--imo looks like clown shoes on a small bike.

a gross generalization but: the more upright your riding position the better a wider saddle like B17 will be. Racy positions are better with narrower saddles like a Swift or Swallow. With my position (bars even with saddle) the B17 is fine and still good when I'm in the drops. The up/down position is critical and a minor adjustment makes a big difference. Slightly nose-up is good for most.

The Swallow does have logner rails than most Brooks.
That is the new Swallow. Older vintage Swallows have shorte rails.
