I want to gift to my friend a basic took kit that either from Performance/Nashbar(Spin Doctor) or PBK in a case ..

Used is ok as long as not they were not abused.

Rather than buy a basic set, buy what he can use.

I'm a bit out of touch with modern, but I don't think cone wrenches are a thing anymore, which is why I have triplicates of everything :rolleyes:

Buy à la carte and get him the best of what he needs. I still have tools I bought new over 40 years ago. Cone wrenches and freewheel tools? I got 'em.

Good cable cutters would be first on a gift list. I like the Hozan cable stretcher (4th hand tool), too. A set of T handle Torx and/or Allen wrenches, a spoke tool, good screw drivers, pedal wrench, torque driver... you get the idea.

Buy once, cry once, as the pliers thread pointed out.

i thought of it at first but it's better to give him a little bit of everything to start with and they are all in a case (better gift image) :)

He has been borrowing tools from his riding buddy ..this should be a starting point besides the allen key set
