I need help locating a nice, conservative and classy looking bag to hang on the saddle of the Sachs that I just got from dbrk. The frame is sort of a greenish/charcoal if that makes any sense. I've opted for antique brown Brooks hb tape and an antique brown Brooks saddle....what I wished they made is the Millbrook in my needed color but black is the only option there. I'd like leather but that is NOT a requirement....I just don't want something that will over power the beautiful lines of the frame so the size of the Millbrook is about my maximum. I'm not too high on the other smallish Brooks bags, too boxie looking for me. I can even look at something that isn't necessarily a bike bag as I have access to a leather workshop that is owned by a very talented guy who is also quite inexpensive to have do a little customizing...and he loves that kind of challenge. There you go Forumites, do what you do best, shoot me some web addresses or pictures of what YOU have done and help an idiot!

I replaced the two Berthoud Bags. I went thru a lot of frn before

Find a bags to one's liking is difficult. We all have unique requirements!!!!!!

I have a drawer full of saddle bags but none is perfect (for me). The one I like the very best, and which comes close to perfect is the Colnago bag. The Colnago has a small bracket that you fix to the saddle rails, and then the bag itself is easily attached/removed from the bracket. Of course, the bag is marked Colnago. I've seen similar set-ups from Fizik.

The bags that attach to the saddle post, as well as to the saddle rails, could scratch the back of your inner thighs. Of course, I may be the exception but it can be a nuisance if it happens to you too.

....but would still prefer leather. I'm considering both the Carridice Zipped Rolled, the green color would be PERFECT, and the Bouthard rolled up tire bag....anyone have one of these that can compare it to some of the Trek/Specialized-type bags for size?

Keep 'em coming!

The Carridice Zipped bag is one nice piece of equipment
Excellent quality. Too heavy for the weight weenie, but perfect
for those who carry additional material.

I almost ordered the Velo Orange handlebar bag yesterday! Probably am going to get one, pretty neat looking and a good color, too. I'm thinking that my leather guy could make additional wrap around straps so that I could use it under the seat, too. Thanks, keep 'em coming!

If you take that option, Keep me posted. I just might buy one too and have your guy modify it also !!!!!

Thanks !!!!

I know those of you that engage in these activities have all kinds of little ditty bags and pouches that you need for various things....any of these convert to bicycle use?

For something completely different, go to the Jandd website and look under their specials. They have some cordura bags in "earth tones", I think they are called Mini Mtn. Wedge, but they are a little larger than the standard mini mtn. wedge. Again, on the specials or closeouts page, not the regular catalog page. Some interesting colors - I ordered the "flannel" and thought it would be close to white from the picture on the website, but it was closer to Khaki. Dirt cheap, too, under $12.

....it's MY Sachs "whatever I want it to be" bike....and will probably never go over 40 mph and on most rides it will probably do an average speed of 15-16-17 mph. Not only am I probably going to use leather, I've also removed the tubies that dbrk sent on the bike and replaced them with clinchers....I'll probably get struck by lighting bolts thrown by the racing Gods! Gee's, don't tell Douglas, he'll probably make me send it back.

The strange think about this is that I've viewed your "Thing Two" and it's a near twin to MY Legend Ti....guess all this proves is that intelligent minds like yours and mine sometimes think alike and sometime they think quite differently. "Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't!" Thanks for the input, perhaps I'll just let the seat tube "go naked" for a while until I can decide for sure.

I'm trying to get a few finished so that I can post some photos....really was being honest about our Legends....they look like twin boys...or girls...not sure which! If you think that leather on the Sachs is a little off center you'll die when you get to see DT's old Terraplane...ooooh, I'm going to do some strange stuff with that one! But then Terraplane's are a little wierd looking anyway....BUT I LIKE 'EM! Nah, DBRK would approve I'm sure.
