Cool if you love yourself, cool if 90% of your friends have the same bike in the same size and color, cool if you suffer from short term memory loss and most cool if someone pays you to ride a bike in competitive events.

i agree with that, and it's particularly cool if you are travelling with your bike in another country and you have your home country flag on the bike too.

good conversation starter.

I've never been a big fan of the whole flag thing, but maybe that's just because I'm not much of a patriot, nor am I representing a country whilst riding

I do have my initials in this placement though. A bit more subtle and succinct than a full name.

I got small stickers with my dog's face on it. Just as identifiable, less looking like I'm a pro poser.

If you're on a racing team where everyone has identical frames, they are great. If you're on a custom, one-of-a-kind frame, they're tacky. There's a smooth gradient in between those two points.

This is crap. If you want one, get one. Anyone who judges you because you have one or thinks it tacky to have one unless your a pro is a person you probably wouldn’t want to ride or even associate with any way.

I’ve had custom bikes with my names painted on the bikes by the builder, and I’ve used stickers on others. Go ride you bike and stop worrying about whether it is “cool.”

Great answer, thank you! There are so many ways to personalise your bike, putting your name on it is just one of many. I took it one step further and had my name put on my stainless steel rear chain stay, and not with a sticker! Good think I am not selling this one... lol

Local artist is running a 4 for 1 sale. He'll paint your name (first and last!) on your shoes, bike, car and house. DM me for details!

My favorite stickers were the tube set stickers used by my friend Tony Mezzatesta, RIP, on the frames he built. The stickers indicated the frames were built from “NBI” tube sets. It was an inside joke that got a lot of mileage. “NBI” stood for “Nothing But Initials.” Bicycle enthusiasts and racers can be so self-important and condescending, especially in the road cycling world.

I have "Carl's Bike" on mine. If the custom sizing didn't kill any chance of resale then that would. Good thing that I never intend to sell it.

And FWIW I don't give a rats clacker whether other people think it's cool or not.

Really? The only names the custom builders who've built me bikes have ever painted on the frames were their own.

Edit: Which reminds me of something an old bass teacher of mine said after he received his custom-made instrument by luthier Albey Bagochian, which had a mother-of-pearl "A" -- Albey's logo -- on the headstock: "For the amount of money I paid for this, it should have my initials on the headstock!"

When there were 6 guys all riding the same CAAD version in 2 size version with team/club issued bits they helped

Plus it was fun

Wheel stickers made life easy in CX pits

Plus it was fun

Basically, it was fun

They're OK only ... if you don't wear the yellow jersey. Or the rainbow jersey. Or a full team kit. Or tall socks.

I don’t care either way but what is the purpose? Trying to think of other items people personalize this way. Anyway, I can think of two times I didn’t buy a used bike because someone’s name was painted on it..,maybe stickers are better if you think you will ever sell it?

Someone else's name or some corporations name is on every single piece of equipment or clothing we ride in. So what is the big deal about your name? Either way is fine with me. It's your hobby, enjoy it any way you see fit

What, your mom never wrote your name in magic marker on the waistband of your underpants when you went away to camp?

Get a couple of dozens stickers with your name on them. Send them to random Paceliners, or maybe Pacliners of your choice. Let's see who puts them on their bike(s).

Could become a cult thing.

One framebuilder I used stamped my initials in the BB shell.
Another tastefully painted my first name under the clearcoat.
I like it yet wouldn't want my whole name displayed. Just first name or initials.

One of my bikes that I custom painted myself, I used a wide tip Sharpie to sign my name on paper, scanned it, traced it in my editor and cut a vinyl mask so I could paint my own signature on as a decal. My design, my paint, and my name. I'm fully on board with this.

BTW, on a bicycle with rim brakes, place name on drivetrain side so the rear brake cable does not obscure it.

I have the Campagnolo script like Angry Scientists has on a custom and one on a repainted frame that was sold . It's a nice touch that isn't obnoxious. I regretted not getting it etched on the Pathos. I think Bixxis should offer it as most of his builds seem to be Campy equipped.

Go crazy w/ personal name and/or bike brand stickers!

Just dont order any that redundantly states the model/ brand with color of your bike like some vehicle vanity plates seen out there, e.g. “RED MBZ”, “BLK VETTE”, “ BLU BMW” etc.

My sticker makes it easy for those too shy to ask.

Big thumbs up! And another for the gold chain on that frame and make it a hat trick or the chainring bolts. Class to know how to add the subtle touches without pimping out the bike.
