My 11 speed DT Swiss Shimano free hub had a spacer behind the cassette. When I used that same spacer on the DT Swiss XDR hub I could not remember which face of the spacer went in which direction...and one side of the spacer is flat and the other side has indents all around that face.

https://www.ebay.com/i/392850079550?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&itemid=392850079550&targetid=934793863376&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9032311&poi=&campaignid=10897343926&mkgroupid=106040611134&rlsatarget=pla-934793863376&abcId=9300403&merchantid=6296724&gclid=Cj0KCQjwtZH7BRDzARIsAGjbK2aI8_NikEMrmhofZvff INxURUJD4MMtc1V3_Y5yf3fiKDf56YvfhocaAsAbEALw_wcB

I installed the spacer with flat side facing inward and indents side against the cassette. When I went to test RD shifting the adjustment seemed all messed up.

I am thinking I should have installed the spacer the other way around but was too whooped to attack again. Or maybe did not torque the cassette correctly?

Anyone know of what I speak and should the spacer go the other way? Will try again tomorrow.

Not sure what you're doing.. I have a DT240S hub that I run with the XDR freehub driver + SRAM 10-42 cassette.. no spacer is involved.

on my bike, Creo, with 148 boost rear hub and DT Swiss XDR driver I definitely needed to use 1.85 spacer with the 10-42 11 cassette and the one I had was just fine. biggest issue was not owning a big enough torque wrench and making a really wrong guess about what 40 newtons feel like. got bigger torque wrench and found out I had not come that close to correct torque by feel and cassette needed at least a few more turns to the 40nm click. those turns screwed with spacing and rear d did not like that. all good now.

The spacer converts the xdr to fit a cassette requiring an xd freehub body.
