Sorry, if this is buried somewhere here on the forum but hard to search for this particular configuration.

Athena 11 triple (30/39/52) crank + Paul 10s Campagnolo Thumbies + 13-29 10s cassette with 46cm chain stay.
Will any Campagnolo 10s FD and any Campagnolo 10s short cage RD do?

Thanks!

A campy 10 sp triple FD would work best with that set up because of the little bump on the FD.

I think youโ€™re going to need a longer cage for that chain wrap though

I am using a 2001 Centaur ultrashift, double front derailleur and 2007 Veloce mid cage for my 10 speed triple setup. 105 tripe crank (50/39/30) with 10 speed 13-26 cassette. 2007 Record short cage does not work.

40 tooth chain wrap will require a long cage.

11-29 10's cassette?

A double front derailleur won't have enough travel for the triple crank, so you'll need a triple front derailleur; only a long cage derailleur has enough capacity for that 40 tooth drivetrain differential.

This is about where I am as well--Centaur 50-40-30 front with a Centaur 10 midcage and 13-26 or 12-26. I think you can push it a little from there to may a 13-29, but any more and you would need a long cage...

My assumption is that with a 53-39-30 (or was it 52-40-30?--just sold my last one and already forget) you would need a long cage rear as well...

AFAIK, all the Campy 10 FDs have the same travel--and the shifters are all triple compatible, up to the shift redesign on Centaur/Veloce 'Ultrashift' with the new style levers/hoods.

What the triple 10 front offered was a deeper cage so that you get better shifting off the small on the front--although I'm pretty sure Old Potatoe has said that a regular 10 will work as well. (Personally I have not tried it--both of mine have the Centaur 10 triple front with the deeper cage.)

I don't know what you get when you throw Campy 11 into the mix though....

11-29 10's cassette?

I stand corrected. That was an 11s cassette in my stash.
Make that 13-29 10s cassette.

That is incorrect - 10spd triple derailleur have longer parallelogram arms, so they have more lateral travel (for a given cable pull).

I tried using a double derailleur on a triple chainring, but the shifter did not have enough cable travel to swing the derailleur far enough to go from the inner to outer chainring. A triple derailleur solved that problem, because it swings more for the same cable travel.

While a Campagnolo FD would be ideal, there is flexibility since the barend shifters I use with the thumbies is not indexed.
Might use an IRD Alpina instead...

So that would mean a derailleur capacity of 38 teeth. A 10spd short cage is rated at 33 teeth, a medium cage is rated at 37 teeth, and a long cage at 40 teeth. Derailleur ratings are usually a bit conservative, so you might be able to stretch a medium cage to work (chain length will be critical!), but a long cage would still be recommended, and a short cage definitely won't work.

Yeah, pretty much unobtainium, at least in silver :(
Might just give up on the whole Campagnolo idea for this one...

Happy to send you one of several triple FD options free of charge. I didn't read the whole thread but probably have some RD options as well. Don't hesitate to PM me, I will get back to you eventually.

Any triple front der, even 'S' brand..but Campag best..even Comp, triple.
Gonna need a medium/ling cage rear der to have enough chain length to safely go big-big

I have a Athena 11s Triple braze on mech, it has about 500 miles on it.

PM if interested.
