That is a new one. Shipping prices have been getting pretty crazy lately. I just mailed out a set of shoes to California this am and the cheapest shipping was $14.90. I sold the shoes for $35 shipped!

Really only one reaction to that:

But honestly, did it really cost $42.35 (77 stamps x $.55 per stamp) to ship that simple tube? Dude would've been better off going FedEx or UPS overnight.

I appreciate them doing their part to help save the USPS

I don't see why not...
It's guaranteed by the US government, no? :D

Of late, I have discovered a lot of stuff being stored away in the house that we only get to use once and then 10 years later thrown out during a move or spring cleaning...such a waste.

Use every square inch to your advantage.

I approve this message.

Couldn't have. Here's hoping those are 20 cent stamps.

This supports my theory that one could slowly raise a fortune selling counterfeit stamps. Patent pending.

It looks like he used the kiosk in the PO. There you weigh the item and imput the info. Once you pay the stamps in the amount you need/paid comes out and you stick them and put the package in the drop box.

Makes me curious about what the heck was in the box.

I hope you didn’t pay for handling!

That must of taken a long time.

Is that how your PO works? Every kiosk I’ve used spits a label worth the $ amount of postage required.

I have definitely shipped things albeit maybe not as big as the packaged OP has with a ton of stamps. The mid market post office would often have a huge line and in order to make postal deadlines for work we’d weigh the package and stick a million forever stamps.

I think I did $10 in postage once.

I've been at a post office before (here in Australia) where they would want to 'get rid' of stamps so instead of printing a label, they'd cover it in stamps. Between $10 and $20 worth of 50c stamps usually.

It thought it was weird, but simultaneously I didn't care

"...Ouch!!!..."
We have plenty of funny pics forming wildberry Powerbars into fake tongues taken while in college.

As far as OP pic...that is indeed a silly way for someone to ship a package.

I just stood and saluted the box.

As for why? The guy probably had/has a small business and switched to ordering postage online and printing. Maybe bought a bulk of forever stamps(because price never goes up) and now has to look for ways to unload the stamps.

I’ve used the Kiosk a lot, always just prints a shipping label... you can buy stamps, but if you are shipping a package you get a label.

I suspect he weighed the package at home and put the postage he had on the box.

I could see myself doing something similar. Between my wife and I, we have a large surplus of forever stamps and don’t send many letters anymore.

That’s a good way to deal with the surplus.

the poor soul who had to stamp each of those at the USPS must've been laughing and cursing at the same time! I appreciate that they at least stamped them to get four at a time for efficiency.....

btw, while we're talking about shipping, Merlin never ceases to amaze me. Last week I ordered parts to build up a frame from 5 different vendors....4 in the US, 1 being Merlin in the UK. I actually ordered Merlin last (on Saturday) and their stuff delivered to my home in LA Tuesday (2 working days!!).....the next best was from St. Louis (yesterday), while the others are still processing and slated for delivery tomorrow, Saturday, and Monday.

Merlin was DHL
Next was USPS (surprisingly)
others still waiting are a mix of FedEx and UPS

Love Merlin for that reason alone....
