We watched a couple people riding (or trying) this summer on a small-ish lake in Michigan and it looked fun. For me I think renting one a few times would be all that interested me. Double take for sure.

Why does the board/platform have to be above the surface of the water?? :confused:

To simulate surfing or windsurfing should the board be in the water?

Efficiency would be my guess. Hydrofoils have very little drag compared to a watercraft with a hull or the surface of a surfboard.
