there are basic ones, that are a flat sheet of steel with a couple bent wings for brazing, a-la: https://www.cycle-frames.com/NUMBERPLATE-TAB.html

fancy ones are basically chainstay cable stops turnt sideways, but can be harder to find. these are truly the same as chainstay cable stops which are widely available...you can DIY with half-round file to tweak the base to fit the sideways orientation of the top-tube (compared to a chainstay) and drill/tap the proper size for the bolt.

Seems they are rare these days, as you aren't wanting a brazed on version, but rather the removable one.

If you stumble across a source, I'd take one too if there's extras.

ah, yes...i misunderstood...the threaded-in base...i've never seen the parts before.

ultra -- maybe u can add a pic of the threaded base to this thread for broader educational purposes.

I wanted a number plate boss, but I decided that a water bottle boss it the right place would be better. I'm interested in what the missing piece looks like, not real evident from the pic.

In 2011, PBP had standard number plates, but last year they use giant number plates with an electronic chip in them. So I'm glad I didn't put a number plate boss on. It was unpleasant to ride through the detection antennas and unreliable too, from many reports.

they look essentially like a stubby shifter boss brazed to the underside of the TT where you'd find a number-tab.

THe reason for that I imagine is to be able to carry a pump and 2 water bottles at the same time, if the number tab thingy or the bolted thing is there then you cant use the pump, you remove it and then you can use the pump.

Great idea if you ask me...

In the picture i posted theres a metal thing under the top tube, thats the piece im talking about.

I was thinking the other day that some removable fender mounts like Whisky uses could be a solution as well.

Looking forward to what you find out from Holland!

Oh that looks like super cool, simple/ The question is the threading.
