Went from adolescent with the hots for her in the Avengers way back in the 1960's  to appreciating her role (alongside her daughter Rachael Stirling) in the recent 'Detectorists' series on PBS.

A life well lived.

Sigh... another part of my youth dies. First Honor Blackman, now Diana Rigg. Two of my favorite 1960s British actresses gone in 2020. Yet another bad mark on this year.

yep, similar sentiments. Wouldn't miss an episode of the Avengers when she was on it. Love the kicks.

RIP, Dame Riggs.

Interesting you mention her daughter. I first became aware of Dame Riggs through the role she did with her daughter on Doctor Who

Of course, my wife would say, she was much sassier throwing shades on Game of Thrones

I remember my dad crushing on her on the Avengers. Have to admit, I saw his point. Godspeed, Mrs Peel.

I was a young lad in England when the Avengers was on BBC. What a great series. Thanks for that video. I especially like where she takes down the Boris Johnson look-alike at about 1:25.

The first crush in my childhood I can ever remember was Diana Rigg as Emma Peel. Set the standard in my mind for strong, smart women. Sort of the prototype for Ellen Ripley.

Wow, I forgot how influential those old Avenger programs might have been on a young mind. That a character could be darned attractive, kick-ass, and not take themselves too seriously.

TimNever (consciously) thought about it that way, but yeah, I think you're right on target.
From a Wiki: Peel is a strong heroine; she is rarely defeated in fights and is capable of rescuing Steed if he is in trouble. She is a master of martial arts and a formidable fencer. A certified genius, she specialises in chemistry and other sciences.
WOW! I wonder if she has any sisters? ;)

There's something about English women named Emma :)
Emma Pooley for instance!
