Got a Omni Carbon front derailleur clamp slipping on my aluminum frame. Is shimming this the only fix? Carbon paste? Wanted to protect the paint is the reason for using this, have had luck with these in the past.
Carbon paste. If that doesn’t work beer can shims and carbon paste.
I should add that make sure there isn’t a bigger problem like the seattube is flexing/crimping as you tighten. Also also make sure the bolt isn’t bottoming out.

I've had one on a carbon down tube for years without issue. Initial set up is a pain as the clamp turns when tightened. No slipping though.
Carbon paste should do the job. If you're worried about paint finish, maybe try a turn of 3m clear tape 1st? If that doesn't work, paste or try another mount.

If you can find it, Motorex Carbon Grease. Contains no grit to mar the finish.

Dang, wish they made one in a 28.6!

Get one from Parlee instead - costs a few more dollars but works perfectly every time..

Try some thin double-stick tape underneath?
