These are the Gatorskins clinchers I listed on classified. Because I never used the tires (only took out one from its packaging), I thought both would still be in good condition. However, it seems like there are white colored residues on the crowns on the tires, more so on the out-of-packaging tire. It could be scraped off from the tread, but it's making me a bit uneasy. Is this just talc used in the rubber compound? Or is this something worse and more serious?

On the in-packaging one, notice the white marks on the right of the black band that runs across the tire (vertical direction in picture)

A lot more apparent on the out-of-packaging tire

Human skin cells? Tires look like that after I mount them on a rim. It's nothing to worry about.

i always thought that was the compound they used to help the rubber release from the mold after it was injected. I see it on almost all my new tires. Bontrager tires in particular seem to have a ton of it.

I think it's just a normal wax used in production and nothing to worry about...

Fairly sure :)

That's a possibility I haven't thought of

Only thing with that is how it seeped out more in the tire I took out from packaging.

Likely Lyndcoat or ReleaSys mold release agent.
