How true to size are these tires in clinchers? I’d like to go bigger than 23s but I don’t have a lot of leeway if the 25s run big. Thnx

They run pretty true to size: my rims have a 20mm internal width and GP5K 28's measure just @ 29mm after being mounted for a couple rides.

Older style rims (14-15 MM ) inner width, they run 1-2 MM smaller; e.g. a 32C measures as 30.

Newer rims they are spot on, or maybe 1 MM wider. But less height than the old 4000SII model.

Nice riding tyres.

Are you in NJ?

If you are close, you're welcome to come by and test fit a few of my wheels with 25c contis in your frame to see if they fit.

PM me if so. i'm in Nutley.

Yeah really depends on the inner diameter of the rims you’re using. I think conti said they’re supposed to fit true to size on 19mm ID, and 1-2mm larger for 21mm ID.

I have a set of 28mm and on a 20mm ID rim they were 29mm, so that seems to match up with the specs. If you’re using the GP5k on 17mm ID rims I can’t see them being any larger than stated width.

The 25c version measures 27.6mm on my HED Belgium+ rims (21 mm inner width).

My 4000s do that in a 25, the 25mm 5000s are smaller.

So are you saying your 5ks are 27.6, or is it 4ks???

GP5000. I measured it with calipers right before I posted.

GP5000 (nominal size 700x25) measured 27.5mm on Kinlin XR-31T rims (19mm internal width) at 85 PSI. For comparison, GP4000S II (700x23) measured 27.1 on the same rims at 88 PSI. The GP5000 was a few millimeters taller, making the fit under the brake bridge marginal on one of my bikes.

Thanks much for the replies here. Very helpful. The lesson here is: next time, buy a bike with more clearance

I should check my rims the 25mm 5ks are on. Maybe they are 17-18c and not 19-20c I apparently mis-remembered...

23mm outer width...
