Does anyone have any experience with the captioned home phones that convert voice to text? I understand that they operate either over the internet or landlines and are provided free of charge to the deaf or people with severe hearing loss through a program funded by the FCC.

Does anyone have any experience with the captioned home phones that convert voice to text? I understand that they operate either over the internet or landlines and are provided free of charge to the deaf or people with severe hearing loss through a program funded by the FCC.

I think the free phone program is run through the state, but that the FCC funds the voice to text service. Might need to complete some sort of assessment to qualify for the free phone. You can also just buy one on line (e.g. Amazon/ebay) register it yourself. Not that pricey...I think around $60. Captel is one of the major brands
