Bora WTO / Campy Calipers problem

Upon attempting to install the rear Bora WTO 45 rim wheel into my Erickson bike, I discovered that the brake caliper arms don't open far enough to accommodate the rim. The pad holders + pads seem to be too wide. Maybe the problem is the few-years-old version of the calipers and the Campy-12 generation calipers open wider? Anyone else encounter this issue and how did you solve it?

I'll post a pic in a bit, but it's unbearably tight. With (1) the cable disengaged, (2) the wider shaped nut between the pad holder and the caliper arm replaced with a flat nut and (3) the tire completely deflated, I simply can't get the wheel in between the pads. FWIW, Campy's description of Record 12 calipers explicitly states they are designed to accommodate C17 and C19 rims, so that may be the solution.

Something doesn't sound right here. I've got several pairs of 10spd and 11spd era Campagnolo brakes, and they open to more than 30mm. According to Campagnolo's specs, Bora WTO 45 rims are 26.5mm wide. I'm using my Campagnolo brakes with 25mm rims and 28mm tires, and they open wide enough (with the QR open) to remove and install the wheels (tire fully inflated).

Sometimes, the ends of the pad holders will contact the forks or stays, preventing the caliper from opening fully. In that case, adding an extra washer on the mounting bolt can space the brake further from the frame/fork, allowing them to fully open.

i agree that something does not sound right. is this a problem on the front and the rear?

i think my velocity quill rims are 26mm and they fit fine on a few generations of campy brake calipers i have.

No, the too-narrow ones are black skeletons, so I'd say at least 10-speed.

I still think there's something odd going on here. I've measured several skeleton brakes (both single and dual pivot), and with the OEM pads and holders, they all open to more than 30mm (closer to 35mm for most of them).
