** RECOVERED 9/6/21** SEE BELOW.

I lent my buddy this bike to use as a city-commuter/errand bike. Stolen from his garage this weekend. I never recorded the serial number unfortunately.

Relatively rare bike - if you see it, likely to be mine. Has a dent in the top tube. Not a HUGE loss, but it was PERFECT as a city commuter. Nimble, bullet-proof, fast, and not too much of an attention-grabber.

Here's the last picture of it before it was stolen

So whoever stole the bike posted it online and a prospective buyer saw this posting AND CALLED ME.. amazing.

Working on getting it back and creating some reasonable consequences for the person who stole it.

Worst case will just buy it; sentimental value.

That's good news.
Did it take a full year?
When I was in NY, the word was that the people stealing bikes would put them in storage for months or a year+ before reselling.

Wow a whole year. That's an operation there.

Don't know the back story, just trying to get it back. If/when it's sorted I'll post more details.

Bike was repurchased this morning.

Information has been handed off to the police - got the seller's car license plate, venmo information, description, etc.

They will do whatever they do at this point. We've given all the critical information and the transaction was done in-front of a bank video camera. They will either engage or they wont.

Mostly happy ending, nice to have the bike back.

What story did the seller tell you about how he came into possession of the bike? Did it seem to fit him? Did he seem to know much about its components?

Can you get the transaction of you paying him negated?

If not, are you out $$?? If so I hope to your satisfaction.

I'd have accidentally backed into his quarter panel with my trailer ball loading into the receiver... ;)

But good on you for not taking the law into your own paws.
