I've been doing bike maintenance for more than a quarter of a century, and for the first time I've got a chainring bolt that I can't get loose. I always make sure to put some grease on there so this doesn't happen...but alas I've got a stuck one.

Anyway, I'm going to purchase a tool to get this bolt off and wanted to find out if you guys/gals like the Shimano tool better or the Park one?

Thanks in advance.

you talking about one of these jobbers keith?

if so, the park one works fine, but the pro tip is to put the tool in a bench vise and push your allen key into the chanring bolt against the tool mounted in the vise, so you get the best advantage on the stuck bolt.

i've removed a bunch over the years that seemed really stuck, and you'll probably get a satisfying, loud "pop!" when it breaks free.

Yep, that's the Park one. Just trying to decide between that one or Shimano's...

Own both, the Park one seems 'harder'...not harder to use but 'harder'..

Really? I feel my Park one is weaker. Seems like it doesn't fit as well as my Shimano one or the Sugino one I have. Huh. Wonder if it was the batch they were made in. I will say the Sugino one is easier to use cause it doesn't have the dust cap pins on the end. It's just the bolt spanner on a handle. Grabbing the Shimano with the spanner on the other end is a pain.
