Hi folks, I'm tempted by the following to allow me to run 48/31 with my Praxis Alba X crank.

DM Spider: https://praxiscycles.com/product/direct-mount-spiders/

110/5 48/31 Chainings: https://www.ebay.com/itm/bikinGreen-CNC-Road-Chainring-48-31T-BCD-110mm-5-Bolts-10-11-Speed-Racing-Tour/164291609351?_trkparms=aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOME SPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D228412%26meid%3D36f1d5 0d01144ceca2e1b50f7fcbf2a1%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D4 %26rkt%3D12%26mehot%3Dpf%26sd%3D114305399000%26itm %3D164291609351%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675 %26algv%3DSimplAMLv5PairwiseWebWithBBEV2bDemotion&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851

Am I crazy to think that a Force 22/ Rival 22 Yaw FD might be able to handle 17t spread on the front instead of the listed 16t?

Should I go for the Praxis 48/32 instead?

Does Praxis offer that combo or even the 31 by itself?

I run Zyante 48/31 with Etap 11 front d. Perfect.

Praxis doesn't, but there's this from ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/bikinGreen-CNC-Road-Chainring-48-31T-BCD-110mm-5-Bolts-10-11-Speed-Racing-Tour/164291609351?_trkparms=aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOME SPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D228412%26meid%3D36f1d5 0d01144ceca2e1b50f7fcbf2a1%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D4 %26rkt%3D12%26mehot%3Dpf%26sd%3D114305399000%26itm %3D164291609351%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675 %26algv%3DSimplAMLv5PairwiseWebWithBBEV2bDemotion&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851

Agreed, I have the BikinGreen rings - they are pretty good for a cheap, low range double drivetrain on my commuter bike, but the shifting of 48/32 Praxis rings is much, much better.

Unfortunately yes, you're certifiably nuts.

But for real this is coming from someone who currently has SRAM on all rides. Even with YAW 16t is not the prettiest shifting experience so I would not trust the 17t spread. Think the better option might be to swap out a Shimano XT or XTR 11-40 cassette in the back for the spread you're looking for, if your RD can handle it. I've had some success with the SRAM medium cage 2x RD's handling the 40t after replacing the B-screw with a longer one from Home Depot with the same thread pitch.

Thanks for the brutal honesty.

I'm moving from a SRAM 1x setup (42t x 11-32) and was thinking that a 46/30 combined with an 11-32 would give me everything I need.

So I'll need a new, non clutch RD as well.

I really like my praxis crank, and will likely get the 48/32, but I am tempted by lower than 1:1 for a trip to CO next summer.

Or the SRAM 11-36 which has better gearing IMO. Either will work with the SRAM WiFli RD.

Thanks. That makes sense.
