Payton Manning deserves to go into the hall with a ring. otherwise the game is all about the beer and wings this year. PATS IN 08!!

that sport is way too doped to be interesting. i'm more curious about the commercials and any potential Prince nipple incidents at halftime.

is it this weekend or next?

Swoop, football is more doped than cycling? or baseball? I do see your point though.

It's in Miami for crying out loud!! why isn't Gloria Estafan singing the national anthem???

Colts or Bears. Its an interesting weekend. Our disFUNctional family (we put the fun in disfunctional) uses the superbowl game as a way to "clean the closets". It all starts out lovey dovy. 4th quarter comes and the game is pretty much decided and then the fun starts! The next day, I get on my bike and the world is at peace. Ya know what I mean?

Rex has been inconsistent all season, but the heat and humidity in Miami should be perfect for a Gator. I’ll take the Bears.

kenoI would bet if only I knew which Rex Grossman is going to show up; the one that had seven games with a QB rating of 100 or more (second most in NFL), or the one that had five games with a QB rating of 40 or less (worse in league). Can you bet on a blowout without picking the winner?

next you'll be asking me to just send you a check. You have hit upon why it is called betting - you'd just can't know, as much some like to think they do and that makes bookies quite fat and happy, what will happen.

Keno, why can't someone bet that the difference in final score is going to be greater than say 14, regardless of which way it goes? It's still a calculated risk, is it not? Just as long as someone can figure the odds. It really wouldn't be all that different than over-under or whatever it's called. It would not surprise me if there is such a bet already.

Let's see... some good ol' American junk food, a good beer, watch a couple commercials and take a nap. Yup, that's what's in store f'r me.

what you have referred to is known as a proposition bet. While I didn't find your proposition in the following list, any respectable casino would give you a bet on that proposition, I believe.

http://www.docsports.com/superbowlprops.html is a fascinating list of proposition bets currently available. It's amusing, if nothing else, and frightening insofar as the things some betters will consider putting money on. Just look at the first proposition, "How long will it take Billy Joel to sing the National Anthem"? There's no doubt in my mind that right now someone is doing research or trying to get inside information on Joel's arrangement and rehearsals.

Colts in a walk. You nor'easters will be able to turn it off after the Purple One wails. It'll be past your bed time by then anyway.
Indy's bid for the 20?? Super Bowl will not get any help with our expected high temp of 6º Sunday. Local controversy is the NFL won't let a church have a public showing (they used "Super Bowl" in their promo & its against NFL TV contract, Neilsen can't count 'em, using a screen larger than 55" is not allowed), but the bars are adding a cover (minimum). Its OK because showing the game is part of their normal course of biz and they pay higher rates for cable/Sat. Not that I would want to go to a church to watch the game, but I think the NFL's "brand" could survive it. I've installed a lot of AV equipment and churches have some great stuff!
All the Catholic schools are closed on Monday, so the kids can stay up to watch. Several businesses are also pre-empting the "Blue Flu" by closing.
And did you know Indiana is semi-dry on Sunday - no carry out booze, but you can drive to the pub when you run out!

Colts 41, Bears 13

Colts, for sure, no question. Grossman will choke, he can't even handle the media!

kenoThanks keno -- it's amazing what people will bet on. I didn't find exactly what I was thinking of, but it can probably be done by combining a couple of different bets. I just hope the game is fun to watch.
